We tested the water a few weeks back and from the feeling and reaction of our members, most were a little afraid to try out the difficult route from Hye Keat to Penang Hill. Except for Simon, all of us were trying to make excuses not to proceed after the Penang Hill old mid station.
Well, that was a few weeks back, this time around we were back to the same route and determine to go ahead to complete another first for our team. Making it to the top of Penang Hill via Hye Keat.
We started the morning with Kwan's rear tire punctuate but was swiftly repaired by our senior mechanic Winson Yeap with the assistance of Kenny and Sam.
But there was another little set back, our Danny Yeoh was no where to be seen, he is always early, but not this morning. We were about to call him when he rang Kwan saying that he over slept. So, it was another 10 minutes wait.
Now back to the route, it consists of lots of single track from Hye Keat to Mid station, after crossing over the train lines, the climb up to the next section of the hill was tough but manageable.
End of the day we made it to Penang Hill after nearly 3 hours. Tough but not impossible, not for newbies or intermediate cyclists. Steep terrains awaits....
