Gunung Jerai ride Aug 07, 2011

Another milestone for Penang Chu Bi Chu Bi Club, now that we move to explore more hills on the mainland. The ride up to Gunung Jerai in Kedah was the longest we ever experienced. To and fro will clock in a 30 KM ride. Even though, the gradual slope is merciful, the length was the deciding factor whether the cyclist would take the "slow torture".

Khaw, our "Iron Man", was the first who took about 2 hours to reach the top of Gunung Jerai. But it took Goh longer than expected due to a faulty front brake, slowing him down but not affecting his fighting spirit to complete the journey.

I must say that it was a good experience for all. I also like to thank Barry and Ronne for looking out for all cyclists. Barry was on his super bike and Ronne going up and down with Roger's Kenari to ensure everyone was coping well with the ride.

After all the cycling, the agony and pain, we are all rewarded with good food as usual. Our special thanks to our food expert, Ah Kwan for bringing us to this restaurant (what's the name ah?) which serves fantastic pork leg, fish head (loong tan, I guess), Shrimps garlic, Tofu and Kangkong with belacan. I reserved this last section for the food photos, thanks to Barry Lee, our free of charge outrider....
